My approach is to take flint and steel, a handful of iron pickaxes, at least two swords, and a bow (ideally with Infinity, else a stack of arrows), along with food, a few stacks of cobble, logs, and coal/charcoal.
The nether is tough the first few times you head there, unless you went crazy and decked yourself out in all enchanted diamond equipment. The shots always land behind you if you keep moving Lava inethe nether flows as fast as water in the overworld.Įdit: forgot to add you can actually just keep running when ghasts shoot at you. Just watch out for random single blocks of lava. Or you can tunnel and/or staircase to another open area and try your luck there. Then the ghast spawns should die down as the mob cap is reached. If I were you I would continue to kill the ghasts in your area until more pigmen spawn. If you break their line of sight to you before they shoot they abort the shot. I'm sure you know the ghast 'I'm about to shoot you' noise by now. They sometimes randomly walk in front of you just as your swinging (ask me how I know) If you time it right you can hit ghasts fireballs back at them with either arow or with your fist (regardless of whats in your hand) You don't take damage, but watch out for pigmen. Ghasts don't actively follow you but they can see you from much farther away than other mobs. Tl dr: Getting wrecked by Ghasts constantly, how can I effectively navigate through it and deal with these simultaneously? How can I safely navigate this place? I'm just flabbergasted at the amount of Ghasts I have aggroed at any time JUST IN MY FORTRESS, so how am I to survive outside? How am I supposed to track down a Nether fortress when these things are constantly respawning and following me? Is there a method to prevent their spawning? Any tips specifically for Ghast avoiding/combating would be appreciated.

I don't know what to do and can't find any tips for how to deal with them. There are 2-3 ghasts at any time patrolling my fortress, and if I kill one, another one immediately spawns.
The one time I did to complete my archer tower, I was blown off 8-10 blocks downward and tunneled once more but was killed anyways. Spent a lot of time building a a portal fortress, even added a small archer tower to pick off the ghasts because they were a huge problem.ĭespite this, I'm scared shitless to leave my fortress. Immediately bombarded by 2 Ghasts, portal deactivated and shitting myself whilst frantically tunneling into Netherrack.

I enter the Nether full of confidence and bravery, aaaand. I came suuuper prepared ladders, torches, cobblestone stacks, bow, multiple pickaxes, armor enchanted with fire resistance/protection, iron axe enchanted with unbreaking, plenty of high-saturated food, the whole shebang. As title says, I've never been to the Nether on SSP.
